Jonathan also contributed articles to the bestselling Apologetics Study Bible for Students and Apologetics for an Ever Changing Culture and helped lead 3 groundbreaking national studies on Gen Z for Impact 360 Institute with the Barna Group. He and his wife have been married for 23 years and have 3 children.

You’ve heard the statistics—At least 50% of Christian students will disengage from their faith in their college years. And only 4% of today’s teens have a biblical worldview. And honestly, there are days you worry that your son or daughter might someday walk away from their faith. Many Christian parents wonder if they are doing enough in the areas that matter most.

You want to pass on your faith to your children and be more intentional in helping them grow spiritually. You want them to stand strong. But where do you start?

I’m here to help. If you want to follow Jesus with greater confidence in a confused and chaotic culture and help a new generation build a lasting faith, then you are in the right place!

I’m passionate about helping a new generation of Christ-followers understand what they believe, why they believe it, and why it matters. As an author and teacher and after 17 years of speaking to and working with thousands of students at camps, conferences, churches, and in classes I know what young people need in order to build a lasting Christian faith. As the father of three, I’ve helped moms and dads gain the clarity and confidence they need to encourage and ground their sons and daughters in the faith.

So here’s a little more about me and my journey. (The more formal-sounding bio is below if you need that)

My Writing / Books / Course

I am the author of several books including:

Online Course for Parents, Churches, and Schools:

I’ve also contributed articles to the bestselling Apologetics Study Bible for Students, Know. Be. Live. A 360 Degree Approach to Discipleship in a Post-Christian Era, Leadership Journal Online (of Christianity Today), A New Kind of Apologist, and Foundations of Spiritual Formation: A Community Approach to Becoming Like Christ.

My Education and Experience

I graduated with an M.Div. and an M.A. in philosophy of religion and ethics from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University. I also completed a Doctorate (D.Min) in Worldview and Culture at Talbot School of Theology.

I’m currently the Director of Cultural Engagement and Student Discipleship at Impact 360 Institute where I have the privilege of training high school and college students in Christian worldview, apologetics, discipleship, and leadership and also serve as an adjunct professor of apologetics at Biola University.

Given my passion for equipping teens to build a lasting faith, I led the 18-month study for Impact 360 Institute as we worked with David Kinnaman and the Barna Group to do the first major study on the spiritual lives and worldview of Gen Z (the generation following the Millenials).

I have the joy and privilege of speaking nationally at conferences, camps, churches, and retreats to youth and adults on Christian worldview, culture and apologetics. I’ve spoken for organizations like Maven, Stand to Reason, the Barna Group, ACSI, Summit Ministries, Hume Lake Camps, Kanakuk Kamps, The Defenders Class of William Lane Craig / Reasonable Faith, Evangelical Philosophical Society, Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ), YWAM University of the Nations, Search Ministries, Impact 360 Institute, Prestonwood Biblical Worldview Conference and High School and College chapels and special events.

My Media Appearances

I’ve been a guest on nationally syndicated shows like Family Life Today w/ Dennis Rainey, WAY-FM, The Janet Mefferd Show, Alisa Childers, Sean McDowell, Breakpoint this Week, The Frank Pastore Show (KKLA), Point of View w/ Kerby Anderson, In the Market with Janet Parshall, Chris Fabry Live, Apologetics 315, Building Relationships with Gary Chapman, CBN and Stand to Reason, Impact 360 Institute, and Maven.

My Story

The very condensed version is that I became a follower of Christ as a junior in high school. I have been married for 20 years and have three children. I love being a husband and a dad! I’m also a huge college football fan (Boomer Sooner!) and my favorite food is a close tie between BBQ ribs and chips and salsa. But at the end of the day, here’s what I know.

Christianity is not a fairy tale for grown-ups. It’s not a hopelessly outdated superstition that only the uneducated and gullible believe. I’m convinced there are good reasons to believe Christianity is true and because it’s true, it speaks to every area of life. We don’t hear this message enough.

A new generation desperately needs to know this and that is why I do what I do. So whether that is through my blog, podcast, books, or when I speak to audiences around the country—I want to give Christians greater clarity about what they believe and the confidence that only flows from knowing why it’s true.

If this resonates with you, then let’s stay connected!
